Volunteers are the life-blood of the Wootton Bassett Arts Festival. Being a volunteer can be great fun, you will be welcomed into a friendly hard working team and the experience you gain may even help you to develop your career or possibly put you on the path to a complete change of occupation.
The Festival Committee will be happy to provide references to all volunteers making a positive contribution to the success of the Festival.
All volunteers may be subject to a CRB check in compliance with our Child Protection Policy.
Marketing Manager(s)
Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Marketing Communications Manager will be involved with all aspects of festival promotion including; Direct Mail, Press Releases, Brochure Production, Poster Production, Website Administration, Sponsorship Co-ordination and Advertising. The post is ideal for anyone planning to develop a career in Marketing Communications. We also work with partner organisations which you can get involved in, known as Channel Marketing this could be another addition to your CV.
Volunteer Co-ordinator
Reporting to the Chair, the Volunteer Co-ordinator Manager will identify volunteer requirements for the whole festival both during the build-up and the festival itself. Responsibilities also include; recruiting volunteers, creating work schedules, creation of policies (equal opportunties etc) and co-ordinating post-festival thanks and references. This role is ideal for anyone interested in a career in HR.
Art Secretary
The classes and subject matter have been set for 2011 however the Art Secretary will be responsible for deciding this for future festivals. The Secretary also receives all entries for this section, liaises with the Adjudicator and will appoint Adjudicators for future festivals. The Secretary will co-ordinate the display of the entries. The Secretary will work in conjunction with the Marketing Director to promote this section of the Festival to the general public and Art Societies in particular.
Photography Secretary
The classes and subject matter have been set for 2011 however the Art Secretary will be responsible for deciding this for future festivals. The Secretary also receives all entries for this section, liaises with the Adjudicator and will appoint Adjudicators for future festivals. The Secretary will co-ordinate the display of the entries. The Secretary will work in conjunction with the Marketing Director to promote this section of the Festival to the general public and Photography Societies in particular.
Creative Writing Secretary
The classes and subject matter have been set for 2011 however the Creative Writing Secretary will be responsible for deciding this for future festivals. The Secretary also receives all entries for this section, liaises with the Adjudicator and will appoint Adjudicators for future festivals. Secretary will work in conjunction with the Marketing Director to promote this section of the Festival to the general public and Creative Writing Societies in particular.
Minutes Secretary
The Minutes Secretary takes notes during meetings and produces minutes from them which are distributed via email afterwards.
Door Stewards
The Door Steward sits inside the room where the performance is taking place and controls the door ensuring that performances are not disturbed.
Art Exhibition Supervisor(s)
The Art Exhibition Supervisor will be available in the Exhibition room to answer questions, keep an eye on the security of the artwork, collate the public votes and post the rosettes on the winners of the public vote. You will also be present to support the Art Adjudicator when he awards the trophies for the most outstanding work.
Programme/Ticket Stewards
This role involves the sale of both tickets and programmes to visitors to the Festival.
Caterers
The Festival offers light refreshments. The role of caterer is to sell refreshments and managing the takings.
Table Stewards/Scribes
The Table Steward/Scribe sits next to the Adjudicator providing administrative support. You will be required to call the participants to perform and provide the Adjudicator with the appropriate paperwork.
Certificate/Report Sheet Co-ordinator
Following the Adjudication the participants will collect their feedback and Certificates from the Certificate/Report Sheet Co-ordinator. You will also be required to keep a record of all of the results as they come in.
Trophies Secretary
The Festival owns many Trophies which are awarded to the winners each year. These are then returned to the Trophies Secretary shortly before the next festival for preparation before being awarded to the next set of winners.
